This easy chicken bacon and cream cheese skillet meal is the perfect weeknight dinner! You only need 1 pan, 5 ingredients and 15 minutes to make this amazing chicken dish.

This is by far my favorite way to prepare chicken and I make it all the time! It’s so simple and easy to make and its basically my go to chicken dish especially on busy nights. My husband loves it just as much (if not even more) than me and its one dinner that he never tires of! Chicken, bacon and cream cheese how can you go wrong? The best part is it comes together in just one pan and you only need about 15 minutes to throw it together!

Ingredients for chicken, bacon and cream cheese skillet

  • 2 large chicken breasts
  • 4 tsp ranch seasoning
  • 4 oz cream cheese, thinly slices
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar
  • 1 tsp olive oil or bacon grease

How to make this chicken skillet meal

  • Slice chicken breasts in half to create 4 thin chicken pieces.
  • Season chicken with ranch seasoning
  • Add 1 tsp of olive oil or bacon grease to a large skillet over medium high heat.
  • Pan fry chicken until golden brown on both sides and almost cooked through. About 3 mins per side.
  • Top each chicken breast with sliced cream cheese, cooked bacon and shredded cheese. Cover with a lid and turn the heat down to medium low and cook until cheese is melted and chicken is cooked through about 5 mins.
  • Serve immediately.

What kind of cheese to use

I typically use shredded cheddar or Colby jack cheese in this. Monterey jack or pepper jack will also be delicious!

Notes on Bacon

In this recipe you need already cooked bacon! I always make a big batch of bacon in the oven to have on hand since we are big bacon lovers. But if you don’t have any precooked bacon on hand you can cook your bacon in the skillet first before preparing the chicken. Then just drain most of the fat leaving about a tsp in and cook your chicken in that! Soo much flavor. If you want to cook your bacon in a big batch to have on hand you can place it on a baking sheet in the oven and bake it at 425F for 12-15 minutes depending on how thick it is and how crunchy you want it! You can then place it on a paper towel and store in the fridge or freezer!

How to store leftovers

I keep leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days. Then microwave to reheat.

Is this chicken recipe keto?

Yes this chicken bacon and cream cheese skillet is keto friendly! I don’t follow keto but I do try to eat low carb sometimes and this is a great low carb, high fat meal that will totally satisfy you.

What to serve with this chicken

Even though this chicken is low carb it is very filling on its own! I like serving it with a simple Caesar salad, roasted asparagus or broccoli.
